Student Handbook

At Liberty, we take student safety and behavior very seriously. We only have a few rules, but these rules apply when you are on your way to school, at school, and on your way home from school. Students, parents, and staff members share responsibility for great student behavior. The school has the responsibility to clearly communicate and enforce student behavior in a fair, consistent, and supportive manner. Parents have the responsibility to reinforce the expectations of the school and to help their children become responsible citizens. Students have the responsibility to follow our code of conduct and to make good choices.

Our Code of Conduct

All students will be asked to follow the Liberty Elementary Character Pledge. All students will be asked to sign a poster hanging in the classroom committing to the Liberty Elementary Character Pledge.

I will be trustworthy.

I will be respectful.

I will be responsible.

I will be fair.

I will be caring.

I will be a good citizen.

Consequences

Any Liberty Elementary staff member may choose to issue a natural or logical consequence in any situation where it would be appropriate. Character Violations will be referred to the office for further disciplinary action.

Character Violations

Character Violations are used to record instances when students violate the Liberty Elementary Character Pledge. A copy of the character Violation will be sent home for the parent to sign when a student violates the Character Pledge.

- First Character Violation: Student sent to the office, Character Violation sent home, possible phone call home, possible loss of recess.

- Second Character Violation: Student sent to the office, Character Violation sent home, conference with the teacher to discuss behavior interventions

- Third Character Violation: Student sent to the office, parent conference with the principle, possible suspension.

Character Awards

Character Awards will be given to students when they demonstrate good conduct and responsible behavior. Teachers will present these awards to one or two students at our Student of the Month Assemblies held the last Friday of each month.

Classroom Management Plan

You will be given a Liberty Elementary Classroom Management Plan the first week of school. It is very important that students and parents review this plan together. Students and paretns must sign the plan, making a commitment to follow the plan by demonstrating great character at all times. The school will make a copy of your signed plan and return it to you.
